HP Recommended

The recording input quality on my HP Pavilion laptop is very poor.. I've tried different mics, including a the built-in Intel Microphone Array, a logitech HD Pro webcam and a Samson Q2U. The recording quality is very poor in each case, with fading and muffled sound, and sometimes momentary dropouts. This affects Zoom calls, audacity audio editing suite etc., which is very frustrating as I'm trying to record podcasts. I get much clearer, consistent recordings on my phone but that's not much use for remote podcast recording. Can you advise?
