I have had this problem for several times. The right speaker became malfunction right after strange "pop" sound came out.
I did research and try the procedure to test my audio system but worked in vain, the only way I could do is to reupdate BIOS.
I thought this problem wouldn't happene again after updated the latest version (sp92316) but I was wrong.
Does anyone know how to fix it? It's frustrating and annoying having same problem again and again.
Thank you all!

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your Post and I would like to help
I suggest you download and run the HPSA from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
The HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Let me know how it goes
If the issue persists please run an Audio Diagnostic from UEFI and let me know the outcome
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Audio
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hi KrazyToad,
Thank you for your reply. I do have HPSA and there is no any update needed. In fact, I also asked for help through HPSA online support, but the angents couldn't find what was wrong. Some of them uninstalled and then reinstalled audio driver, but problem was still there till updated BIOS. I also run an Audio Diagnostic and it said my system worked perfectly well.
Whwnever I hear strange "pop" sound from the right speaker, I know it quits working again. So I have to find the latest BIOS on Hp support website and update again. There is someone who has same problem thought updatting BIOS was only solution, as well....

Hi Sandy,
Thank you for the link, and that is where I download latest BIOS. However, the most annoying thing is I have been keeping updating the same version of BIOS again and again to solve right speaker malfunction problem. There are many people facing same issue but not solved at all. I am not an expert about computers but I believe HP needs to figure out conflict between BIOS and windows 10.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
On board audio: Realtek ALC889
Speakers: Logitech LS21 (2 front speakers L/R and a subwolfer... Connected to CPU through one audio cord, the green one)
OS: Windows 7
The speakers work fine when I plug them into my iPhone and play music. Can change balance from Left to Right and the speakers play music accordingly.
I plug them into my computer and the Right speaker does not work. No sound, and when I do the test with the Realtek HD Audio Manager, it tries to play sound out of the right speaker but gets nothing.
Thoughts?
