Nope, I've not sorted it out at all. I must admit that I didn't try some of the more advanced suggestions which involved playing with the Windows auto-update feature, partly because I don't want to fiddle with the system in that way, partly because Windows 10 doesn't really give the user control over their own system and I fear any resolution to the problem would vanish with the next updates, and partly because in my case it was easier just to get a couple of used Airport Express units and use them. That, of course, will be no help to you, and it seems deeply disappointing that one gets a good quality generic computer (which is how I think of HP laptops--they're not rubbish, but they're not tweaky speciality machines) and can't make a routine adjustment.
At least we know we're not alone. I never had this sort of problem with my old Lenovo.
