HP UltraSlim Docking Station
Linux

My OS is Fedora 27 and I recently purchased an Ultra Slim Docking Station for my EliteBook 840.

All ports on the Slim Docking Station appear to work except the audio out and in ports.I can attach my speakers to the audio out port on the side of the docked laptop, which outputs sound through my separate desktop speakers. When plugging into the audio out on the docking station however, sound continues to come from the laptop's internal speaker.

This is a similar issue to the following posts:

-

The only ports connected while I attempt this are: two USB ports for keyboard and mouse; one HDMI port to HDMI/DVI converter for secondary monitor; one VGA port for primary monitor; and the power cable.

I would appreciate some advice on whether 1) the issue has come up before and 2) a resolution exists.

On my debian had the same problem.

I putted a conf file in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf with this content:

options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dock
options snd-hda-intel beep_mode=0
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

And voila, audio out works fine 🙂

Maybe this solution work with your Fedora!

I did the same, however, now internal laptop speakers are playing together with line-out/headphones without any possibility to distinguish between them.
