Hi @mikiyasabebe212,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop audio is not working. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check volume and mute settings
Make sure the volume is turned up and the speaker icon is not muted in the taskbar. Also press the keyboard volume keys to confirm sound is enabled.

Select the correct playback device
Right-click the speaker icon → Sound settings → Output.
Ensure the correct speakers or headphones are selected as the output device.

Restart the Windows Audio services
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Restart Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder to refresh audio services.

Run the Windows audio troubleshooter
Go to Settings → System → Sound → Troubleshoot.
This can automatically detect and fix common audio configuration issues.

Update or reinstall the audio driver
Open Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers.
Right-click the audio device and select Update driver, or uninstall it and restart the laptop to reinstall automatically.

Check for disabled audio devices
In Sound settings, click More sound settings → Playback tab.
Right-click in the list and enable any disabled or disconnected devices.

Test with headphones
Plug in wired headphones to check if sound works through them.
If headphones work but speakers do not, the issue may be speaker-related.

Check HP Support Assistant and Windows Update
Install any pending driver, BIOS, or system updates.
Audio issues are often resolved through updated system components.

I hope this helps.
