HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The sound on my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13 has stopped working. I have tried everything. I restarted and force restarted the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers three times. I have system rebooted to factory settings. Nothing is working. What is going on?

Please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.


  (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,

                  https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98501-99000/sp98713.exe

  (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
  (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
  (d) Reboot again.

This did not help. I followed your instructions exactly, and did the process three times. The sound is still not working. This computer is only three years old. I do not use it for any games, movies, or streaming. I use it work and video calls at work. I use no other programs. The sound worked perfectly yesterday, and today nothing. What is going on?
