I just got an update for another version of Windows 10 and now the sound quality has decreased greatly. Before the sound was clear and was quite loud when the level was at 100. Now it's probably half as loud as before when it's at level 100. The most frustrating thing is that the sound quality has gotten quite poor. It's very muffled and not as crisp as it was. It's not crackly or anything, just very muffled.

I bought this laptop with Beats audio installed and now I can't find it when I search for it in the settings. I don't know if the update made Beats go away or something like that.

I've tried to think if I dropped it somehow that would make the hardware get messed up but I don't think I did. I just noticed it right away after the update.

I don't know if this is an HP question or if this is a Windows 10 issue. Any ideas?

Hi,

Download and install the IDT HD audio software package on the following link.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'.  From the new layout, see if the Beats icon is now listed.

Regards,

I had the exact same problem. I tried your solution but all it did was give me no sound at all. The speaker icon at the bottom now has a red X. Now what do i do? Thanks

Hello David, i have the same problem with my noteboook, but i have a realtek sound system software, can i use the same software package? or are there something different that can solve the problem with realtek sound driver?

An IDT driver will not work on a Realtek equipped system. I would download and install the latest driver for your audio hardware from the HP drivers page for your system.
