@5CD1362TK5, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your HP notebook's audio. Let's try a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Microphone Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds".
  • Go to the "Recording" tab and ensure your microphone is set as the default device.
  • Speak into the microphone and see if the green bars move. If not, right-click on the microphone and select "Properties". Under the "Levels" tab, make sure the microphone is not muted and the volume is turned up.

Run the Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Open the Settings app and go to "System" > "Sound".
  • Scroll down and click on "Troubleshoot" under the "Input" section. Follow the on-screen instructions to identify and fix any issues.

Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
  • Right-click on your audio device and select "Update driver". Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software".
  • If updating doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the driver and restarting your computer. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Check App Permissions:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Microphone".
  • Ensure that microphone access is turned on for the device and that the apps you are using (like the camera app, video call apps) have permission to use the microphone.

Test with Another App:

  • Try using a different app to record audio, like the Voice Recorder app, to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the specific app or the microphone itself

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
