My company uses Smart Deploy to configure HP Probook 455 G9 & G10 laptops. Recently we started having a strange problem. We make sure that we've run the HP Support Assistant to pick up any drivers that need updating, and we test the sound before it goes out the door. We also update the BIOS as well.
However, within a week of the laptop(s) being deployed to users, the users report back that they can no longer hear anyone on Teams (using the new Teams app), and the only way we've been able to fully solve this is to do the following:
- Go to Device Manager
- Uninstall the Real Tek Audio
- Reboot
- Go back into Device Manager to make sure Real Tek reinstalls
And this fixes the issue.
We cannot figure out why a) the sound works when it goes out the door b) why it stops working within a week c) why uninstalling/reinstalling is the only solution.
Has anyone else experienced this?

We are having the same issue too. Uninstalling the sound driver fixes the problem, but it soon happens again.
I noticed there is an update for the Realtek audio driver, released via Windows Update on 03/08 - 'Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Extension - 6.0.9703.1'. I've installed this on one of the affected laptops, and will see if it solves the problem.
