HP Envy x360 M6 convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

My HP Envy x360 M6 convertible is having sound issues.  I work on it all day and have for 3 years or so.

In the last week, the sound has seemingly randomly stopped working.   I am also getting this error on YouTube videos:  https://www.screencast.com/t/3ROaOwhe

Other videos won't work either: https://www.screencast.com/t/DGcS0kVkvs7

If I restart it works again sometimes.  If I reinstall the drivers it works for a while then will stop.

How can this be fixed?

I have had similar odd things happen. Best I can suggest is these two things from what I've read here:

Try a YouTube video downloader and see if the file downloads and plays without any errors. If it does then it should indicate that the issue is playback not download.

Some website though I really don't know for YouTube or Yahoo (can't remember the last time I had to check this out) still use other playback technologies like Flash so it is worth ensuring that Flash player is up to date. It's also worth uninstalling it and re-installing.

The other option that makes sense also is to try a different browser. I for example always install Firefox and Chrome with Firefox being the preferred browser. If something falis on there, then I always test on the others just in case it is a browser issue. I'm assuming from what I see that you are using Edge but I can't be sure. If you haven't installed another browser you can still try the outdated Internet Explorer at least and see if anything changes.
