Hi @Traveler146,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0x80070103 typically occurs when Windows tries to install a driver that is already installed or not compatible with your device. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue.
Manually Update Audio Drivers
Uninstall Existing Audio Drivers:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio driver (e.g., Realtek, Conexant, or similar) and choose Uninstall device.
- Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
Reinstall Audio Drivers:
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest audio drivers for your HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15.
- Install the driver and restart your laptop.
Run the Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Additional troubleshooters and choose Playing Audio.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows detect and fix any issues.
Pause Problematic Driver Updates
If the issue persists, prevent Windows from automatically updating the faulty driver:
- Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter.
- Navigate to:
- Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows Update.
- Double-click Do not include drivers with Windows Updates and set it to Enabled.
Alternatively, use the Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter:
- Download Microsoft's troubleshooter tool from here.
- Hide the problematic update so Windows does not attempt to install it.

Test Speakers in BIOS
To rule out hardware issues:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to enter the System Diagnostics.
- Run the Audio Test.
Check for Physical Issues
- Ensure that no headphones or external speakers are connected.
- Inspect the speaker grills for blockages or damage.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
