I woke up one day without having  working speaker on my computer. Every time I pressed the volume up or volume down button on my keyboard it wont go past zero, and it shows the icon of the muted speaker. But it goes beyond that. Tried to fix it myself, obviously did not work. Now I also dont have a working microphone. It doesnt detect it on seeting either. But it gets even worse. If i connect headphones that have a working microphone, like airpods pro for example, it wont detect. I have to join my meetings with my phone since its the only way to have a microphone. Same idea goes for the speaker but only for certain scenarios. If I connect it to my Marshall speaker it does work, but If I connect it to other things like a Prowise TS screen, it wont work.
If tried installing the drivers from the HP app but I swear i cant make it work.

Hi @rechea

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern regarding the speaker and microphone not being detected, and I appreciate the effort you have already taken to install drivers through the HP App.

Let’s go through recommended steps to restore audio functionality:

Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Open the HP App from the Start menu.
  • Go to Support > Troubleshooting > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Allow the tool to scan and automatically repair audio issues.

Check Output and Input Device Selection

  • Right‑click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
  • Under Output and Input, ensure the correct device is selected.
  • If no devices are listed, click Add device and follow the prompts.

Update Drivers via HP Support

  • Visit the HP Support page for your product model.
  • Download and install the latest Audio Driver and Graphics Driver provided by HP.
  • Restart the computer after installation.

Run HP Audio Check

  • In the HP App, search for Audio Check under diagnostics.
  • Run the test to verify hardware functionality and follow guided steps if issues are detected.

Reset HP App Audio Settings

  • Go to Windows Settings > Apps > HP App > Advanced Options > Reset.
  • Relaunch the HP App and re‑run audio diagnostics.

Verify BIOS Audio Settings

  • Restart the computer and press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
  • Select F10 BIOS Setup.
  • Under Advanced > Built‑in Device Options, ensure audio is enabled.
  • Save changes and restart.

These steps are designed to ensure both internal and external audio devices are properly detected and functional.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
