My HP Omen 16 laptop makes a clicking or popping noise through the speakers whenever I run a program or perform any action. What could be causing this? I think it's a software-related issue. "Does anyone know the exact cause of this issue?"

Hi @METAL28

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

You're right to suspect a software-related issue—this popping or clicking sound is often linked to audio driver conflicts, power management settings, or sample rate mismatches.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Update Audio Drivers – Go to Device Manager → Sound, video, and game controllers → Right-click on Realtek Audio → Update driver.
  2. Disable Audio Enhancements – Open Sound settings → Select your playback device → Click Properties → Go to the Enhancements tab → Disable all enhancements.
  3. Adjust Sample Rate – Open Sound settings → Select your playback device → Click Properties → Go to the Advanced tab → Try different sample rates (e.g., 44.1kHz or 48kHz).
  4. Check BIOS Updates – Some users have reported that updating the BIOS helped resolve the issue.
  5. Power Management Tweaks – In Device Manager, find your audio device, go to Power Management, and disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Let me know how it goes!
