I updated my AMD graphics card yesterday afternoon and after doing so and restarting my computer I realized that there was something wrong with the speakers on my laptop. The audio was coming out sounding weird, like for example I had the volume up to 100% and it was sounding lower....and when I was adjusting the volume with the keys on my laptop the sound wasn't adjusting(it wasn't sounding like the volume I was setting it to...if that makes sense). When i was playing a youtube video the sound was lower and i was adjusting the sound on my computer and it didnt sound like it was going any louder but when i adjusted the volume in the youtube video itself it got louder...again i'm sorry if this doesnt make sense. And when i was playing a video game the sound on my computer was at a low volume but the sound in the game was really loud and it didnt adjust until i fixed the audio in the game...It's just really weird....my speakers don't seem right since i updated my graphics card is basically what i'm trying to say

Hi @atremblay23,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing audio issues on your HP laptop after updating your AMD graphics card. Audio problems can sometimes occur after a graphics card update due to driver conflicts or settings adjustments. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve hardware and software conflicts.

Check Volume Settings:

  • Make sure the volume on your laptop is set to an appropriate level.
  • Check the sound settings in Windows to ensure that your speakers are selected as the default audio output.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Go to the HP website and check for audio driver updates specifically designed for your laptop model.
  • If you updated your graphics card driver, it might have affected your audio drivers. Updating them could help.

Roll Back Graphics Driver:

  • If the audio issues started after updating your AMD graphics driver, you can try rolling back to the previous driver version to see if that resolves the problem.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, Windows updates can also resolve driver issues. Make sure your operating system is up to date.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Open the Windows Control Panel, navigate to "Troubleshooting," and run the audio troubleshooting tool.

Check Third-Party Sound Enhancements:

  • If you have third-party audio enhancement software (e.g., Dolby Audio, Realtek HD Audio Manager), check the settings there to ensure they aren't conflicting with your system settings.

Test External Speakers or Headphones:

  • Connect external speakers or headphones to your laptop to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with your laptop's speakers or the audio system in general.

Check AMD Graphics Card Settings:

  • Sometimes, graphics driver updates can change audio settings. Check your AMD graphics card settings to ensure that it's not affecting your audio output.

System Restore:

  • If none of the above solutions work, you can try using Windows System Restore to revert your system to a point in time before you updated the graphics card driver.

Remember to back up your important data before making significant changes to your system, such as rolling back drivers or performing a system restore. This way, you can restore your system if anything goes wrong during the troubleshooting process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
