HP Pavilion x360 Laptop - 14-dw0003nv

Hello i believe i have had this problem since I updated to Windows 11. I have an Hp x360 pavilion (B&o) and for a long time I haven't had access to its built-in microphone and speaker, I have to make use of external devices in order to hear any audio playing on it.

I have tried an infinite amount of solutions, going to device manager and reinstalling the drivers, I tried using the hp support assistant app which just tells me "microphone and speaker not found" and redirects me to the useless bot again. I have also tried every single setting tab and I'm running out of patience.

I know the speaker is still "alive" as when I tried to access the bios to see if it could be solved from there I pressed delete instead of esc and it made a lound beeping noise, so that makes me think its still salvageable.

I would also like to add that when on software and drivers website for this exact model in the HP website drivers were only found for Windows 10 and not 11, maybe this could be the problem?

Any help is appreciated 🙂

Hi @Chloejbr,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've been quite thorough in trying to troubleshoot the issue. Since you suspect the problem might have occurred after updating to Windows 11 and there are no specific drivers listed for Windows 11 on HP's website, it's possible that compatibility issues with Windows 11 could be causing the problem.

Here are a few additional steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Rollback to Windows 10 (Optional): If possible, you might consider rolling back to Windows 10 to see if the issue persists. This could help confirm whether the problem is indeed related to Windows 11 compatibility.
  • Check Windows Update: Ensure that your system is fully updated through Windows Update. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on HP's website. Sometimes, BIOS updates include fixes for hardware issues.
  • Check for Windows 11 Compatible Drivers: While HP might not explicitly provide Windows 11 drivers for your model, you can try checking for compatible drivers directly from the HP website.
  • Run Hardware Troubleshooter: In Windows 11, you can run the built-in hardware troubleshooter by going to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Hardware and Devices. This might help identify and fix any hardware-related issues.
  • Reinstall Audio Drivers: Even though you've already tried reinstalling drivers, it might be worth trying again. Completely uninstall the audio drivers from Device Manager, restart your laptop, and then let Windows reinstall the drivers automatically. Alternatively, try downloading and installing the latest audio drivers from HP's website for Windows 10 compatibility.  Software and Drivers for HP Pavilion x360 Laptop - 14-dw0003nv
  • Hardware Inspection: If none of the software solutions work, there could be a hardware issue with your laptop's audio components  HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
