HP Spectre notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Spectre Notebook has a earphone/mic logo and jack inlet at the back.

I can listen really well through earphones but I can't record using a Rode lapel mic. My voice is unitelligiable - impossible to understand.

The Rode mic works on every other device I have here: iphone, ipad and lenovo thinkpad but I cannot get it to work on the Spectre - I have spent 5 hours trying to work out what is wrong and I think there's no compatibility.

When I plug in the Rode, the Spectre doesn't appear to recognise it.

I'm sure others will have tried this. Does anyone know the answer please. TIA

@Eleftheria

Have you tried to use an headset ? On many machines, the headphones/microphone combo jack does NOT support standalone microphone.

Regards.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t have a headset with the right connection. I’m recording webinars so just need a mic - I don’t need to hear anyone. That’s why I bought the lapel mic.

It seems this laptop is not compatible.

Do you know what’s a good alternative personal mic that’ll work with it?
