My laptop is new (1 week). The Audio keeps stopping for no apparent reason. I launch the Support Assistant and follow steps to check and test audio. It then reinstalls the Audio Driver and audio works again. Problem is that keeps re-occurring, 5 times today already! Please help.

@DCH9

Please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

     (a) Download the following driver (dated: Feb 5, 2021) and save on your computer,
                 https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112501-113000/sp112547.exe

     (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
     (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
     (d) Reboot again.

Regards.

Thanks for your quick response. I had done as suggested and so far the audio has been fine; I did however get this warning while the new driver was being installed:

"The driver is not supported on this OS version (10.0.19041)"

Any idea why this occurred and should I worry about it?

Many Thanks again

My audio continued to work for a day without and issues, but the problem started to reoccur on the 2nd day after I applied the fix, and it continues to do so. I will try again to reinstall the driver.

Eventually got this problem resolved after contacting HP Support, and on 2nd attempt I spoke to someone who was excellent and understood the problem. The basic issue was that the Reltak Audio Driver was incompatible with the Version of Windows. The version I had was Version 2004, OS Build 19041.867. Although this was the latest, there was a later (beta?) available, and I was updated to Version 20H2, OS Build 19042.867. Problem now completely solved!
