15t-ae000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I've been having a loud static problem with the subwoofer of my 15t-ae000 for about the last year. It started off as only happening when the ac adapter was plugged in and there was something playing with sound on the laptop. If I mute or turn the sound off and play a video, it still produces static. This still holds true, but now it has progressed to doing it without the ac adapter (but worst with it) the last couple of months and has a loud pop sound with static when it boots up. The pop happens when the sound stops for anything that produces sound.  I have tried running the troubleshooter, updating the audio driver, updating the Bios driver, have searched for answers online, and replacing the subwoofer to no avail. I also tried removing the subwoofer, which did get rid of the static and pop, but I'd prefer a solution that didn't require me removing a piece of hardware. Does anyone have any other ideas? If it helps at all, the subwoofer model is 812707-001.

Thanks in advance!

Please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93151.exe

(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.

Regards.

I have the same issue with the subwoofer. During booting and in windows when sound should be played, a crackling and popping sound appears.

I have removed the subwoofer and the crackling and is away. When I connect the subwoofer to the port where the frontspeakers are connect the sound is good without the crackling and popping. So it is the port of the subwoofer on the motherboard which causes this.

I have updated my bios and sound drivers, but no difference.

Does anyone have an idea how this could be fixed?
