Spent 1 hour in chat box with microsoft technician trying to help me get sound on my HP Envy x360 laptop. Nothing worked. He helped me update the HP bios (whatever that is). He finally said that maybe HP could help me. I don't appear to have a sound device. The Microsoft audio troubleshooter has no solution.

Do you mean sound for machine or sound for its external display ?
1. For machine: what is it ? You can use How to Find Your HP Laptop Model Number to find out.
2. For Display: Your HP VH240a Display does NOT have speakers.
Regards.

Laptop HP Envy x360 Convertible 15t-cn100
When I go to Settings - Sound, it says "no output devices found" "no input devices found"
The sound icon has an "x"
I just updated to Windows 11 yesterday, hoping that might help. It did not. Still no audio devices. Where did they go?

That is the problem. HP does not supply Windows 11 drivers for the series. You have to use drivers for Windows 10. Please download Audio driver on the following link and install to your machine:

Can I use the same solution?
I have ALL the exact same symptoms as described above, including HOURS of MS reps on the phone, except I have the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13". Can I use the same link as the OP was given for HP15?
