I recently installed an SSD on my laptop. The problem occured was that when I got a new Windows 11 installed on my system, some of the drivers got deleted. I install almost all of them back but the sound drivers are still missing (in my perspective). The mute sound light is also not working and the sounds are very low compared to when I didn't installed an SSD. I ran all of the potential check ups available on the laptop and your websites and different apps of HP, they all showed that my drivers are up to date. What should I do?

Hi @UsmanRS,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue with low sound and the mute light not working on your HP Pavilion - 15-cs3096tx after installing a new SSD and Windows 11 likely stems from a problem with the audio driver installation or configuration. Here's how you can troubleshoot and fix the issue:
To assist better:
- Was there any recent update on the PC?
- Are all the drivers on HP Support Assistant up to date?
If not please follow the document to update the drivers: HP PCs - How to Download, Install, and Use HP Support Assistant (Windows)
While you respond to that please try the below steps:
Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.
1. Turn off the Unit.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter.
3. Remove any discs from the disc drive.
4. Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
5. Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
6. Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
7. Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.
Step 2
Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit
Step3
The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit
Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.
1. Confirm the Audio Driver Installed
Check-in Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Look for your audio device, such as Realtek Audio or Conexant Audio.
- If it shows as High Definition Audio Device, the correct driver is missing.
Update the Driver:
- Right-click your audio device and select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- If no update is found, proceed to the next step.
2. Manually Install Audio Drivers
- Download the official drivers for your laptop model:
- Visit the HP Support Drivers page.
- Enter your laptop model: HP Pavilion - 15-cs3096tx.
- Select Windows 11 as your operating system.
- Download the audio driver listed (typically Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver).
- Install the driver, then restart your laptop.
3. Run the Audio Troubleshooter
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Find Playing Audio, and click Run.
- Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix issues.
4. Reinstall the Audio Driver
- Uninstall the Current Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will attempt to reinstall a generic driver.
- If the issue persists, reinstall the official driver downloaded from HP’s website.
5. Configure Audio Settings
- Enhance Audio Output:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
- Under Output, click your audio device, then click Device properties.
- Enable Enhancements like Loudness Equalization.
- Ensure the correct output device is selected.
6. Update the BIOS
- Visit the HP Support Drivers page for your laptop model.
- Check for a BIOS update. If available, download and install it carefully, following the instructions provided.
7. Check Mute Light and Hardware
- If the mute light still doesn’t work:
- Confirm that the HP Hotkey Support driver is installed.
- Download it from the HP website for your model.
- Install and restart your laptop.
- Verify if the F6 mute key is functioning through the HP Keyboard Diagnostics (available via the HP Support Assistant).
- Confirm that the HP Hotkey Support driver is installed.
8. Test with External Audio
- Connect external speakers or headphones.
- If sound levels are normal on external devices but not on the internal speakers, the issue may be hardware-related.
