has anyone had issues with the Mic not working properly on a Jabra headset with teams?

I have two Jabra headsets that are different models and both have the same issue. they are both usb headsets. i have tried all 3 usb ports with the same issue. i have purchase a USB extension cable as i thought this was the issue and also reset to factory and the issue still persists. the laptop is fully up to date with windows and HP.

Hi @Ems23,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Jabra USB headsets aren’t working properly with Microsoft Teams on your HP Envy 17.3-inch laptop, here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.

Check Audio Settings in Teams

  • Open Microsoft Teams and go to Settings > Devices.
  • Ensure that your Jabra headset is selected as both the microphone and speaker device.
  • Adjust the microphone sensitivity and speaker volume to ensure that Teams is recognizing the headset properly.

Update or Reinstall Jabra Software/Drivers

  • Download the latest drivers or Jabra Direct software from the Jabra website, which may provide more control and the latest firmware for your headset.
  • Install or update Jabra Direct and use it to confirm firmware updates on both headsets.
  • If the issue persists, try uninstalling any Jabra drivers, restarting your laptop, and reconnecting the headset to see if Windows reinstalls the drivers automatically.

Check Privacy Settings in Windows

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and ensure that apps, including Teams, have permission to access the microphone.
  • Make sure that the setting Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is enabled, as this is necessary for Teams to use the microphone.

Test the Microphone Outside of Teams

  • Test the headset microphone in another application, like the Windows Voice Recorder app, to confirm if the issue is isolated to Teams.
  • If the microphone works fine in other apps, then the issue may be specific to Teams, and reinstalling or updating Teams may help.

Use the Built-in Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound > Troubleshoot and follow the steps to diagnose any potential sound issues related to USB devices.

Try Disabling Audio Enhancements

  • In Control Panel > Sound, go to the Recording tab, select the Jabra headset, and click Properties.
  • Under the Enhancements tab, disable all enhancements (if available) as some enhancements can interfere with audio functionality.

Test on Another Computer

  • To isolate the problem further, connect your Jabra headsets to a different computer with Teams installed and check if the microphone works. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your HP Envy laptop.

Use an External USB Audio Adapter (Optional)

  • If these steps don’t resolve the problem, consider trying an external USB audio adapter to see if it improves the connection and functionality of your USB headsets with your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi,

I have gone through most of your recommendations and got as far as doing a microphone test through sound properties and this does not seem to pick up any sound from my Mic. so it must not be teams specific. any further advice would be useful.

i have done updates on JAbra, deleted and reinstalled teams. The headset is brand new and it does not work for two brand new headsets.

for further information in the future. i have fixed the issue finally!

in myHP audio control it has an "AI noise reduction setting" turning this off has fixed my issue. might be something HP need to look into as it doesn't seem to be working properly.
