The USB AUDIO INPUT of my laptop with Windows 11 does not receive any external audio signal.
The microphone is working correctly, but when I connect an audio signal to the USB AUDIO INPUT (such as a transceiver or an audio USB board) no audio is detected by the PC

Hi @Franzy1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you’re describing with the USB Audio Input not receiving external audio signals could be caused by several factors, including driver issues, incorrect settings, or compatibility problems. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Verify USB Device Compatibility
- Ensure the audio device you are connecting is compatible with Windows 11.
- Check the device documentation for any specific drivers or software needed.
2. Check Audio Device Configuration
- Go to Sound Settings:
- Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select Sound settings.
- Under Input, ensure your USB audio device is selected as the input device.
- Test Input Levels:
- Click Device properties under the Input section.
- Check the Volume and ensure it’s not muted.
- Speak or play an audio signal into the device and check if the input levels move.
3. Check Audio Driver
- Update Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (Press Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click the USB audio device and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Reinstall Drivers:
- Right-click the device and select Uninstall device.
- Disconnect and reconnect the USB audio device. Windows should reinstall the drivers automatically.
- Download Drivers:
- If the drivers are not automatically installed, download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
4. Ensure Proper Signal Input
- Confirm that the external device is sending a proper audio signal to the USB input.
- Check the cables and connections to ensure they are not damaged or loose.
5. Test with Another Device
- Connect the USB audio device to another PC to determine if the issue lies with the device or the laptop.
- Alternatively, test with another USB audio device on your laptop.
6. Check for Conflicting Software
- Disable any third-party audio enhancement or processing software that might interfere with the USB input.
- Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall software that could block USB devices.
7. Check USB Ports
- Try using a different USB port on your laptop.
- If using a USB hub, connect the device directly to the laptop.
8. Update Windows
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and ensure your system is fully updated.
9. Run Audio Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Sound > Scroll down to Input and select Troubleshoot.
10. BIOS and Firmware Updates
- Visit the HP support website to check if there are BIOS or firmware updates available for your laptop that could improve USB audio compatibility.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
