I was trying to improve the terrible sound from the Bang & Olefson sound driver by following various procedures on the HP forum. One procedure was to run the sound troubleshooter, which I did. It asked me to listen to a tone, but there was no sound. Then it said it would remove my sound driver and replace it.  I thought it had installed another driver. There were still no tones, so I hit CANCEL on the troubleshooter and my audio driver was gone. The speaker icon has an X through it and and it says No Sound Output Installed. The B&O control had disappeared. In device manager, there was only an Invidia driver listed under sound. I downloaded the RealTek driver  for my exact laptop (SP82071) and installed it. I still have no sound and the B&O control panel does not appear .

Device manager.PNGSound control panel.PNGWill a System Restore restore the audio driver? Or do I have to download it? Thanks.

@mike_mcroberts,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the audio on your computer

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

For now, I recommend you uninstall the audio driver from device manager and then download and install it from the below link.

If you continue to face the same issue, I recommend you update the bios and the chipset driver from the below link.

Thanks. The Sound Driver reappeared after updating the BIOS. I also updated the Chipset. I had already downloaded and installed the RealTek software. Everything is back to normal
