I have an older laptop computer. The volume control display bar--the one that appears when I adjust the volume for my speaker, does not appear on my computer screen when I adjust the volume.. How do I bring this "volume display bar" back into appearing on my computer screen when I change the volume? I'm still using Windows 7

Installing this utility should restore that feature:
HP On-Screen Display Utility
This package provides the HP On-Screen Display Utility for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The HP On-Screen Display Utility enables the pop-up graphic displays that are shown on the screen when certain characteristics, such as volume or brightness, are changed.

I appreciate the suggestion, but your link did nothing to solve my problem...I don't know how else to describe the problem / concern I am having,,,My keyboard has buttons at the very top of the board with images showing speakers. One of the buttons is for decreasing the volume & the other is for increasing the volume. In the past, when I pressed either button a volume bar would appear on my screen. This volume bar shows a slide image (from left to right) with a pronounced rectangle block that moves left or right (softer or louder) depending on which button I press on my key board. When I release my finger from the button, after I have achieved the volume I want, the bar disappears, only to reappear when I press one of the buttons again....None of this happen after downloading the suggested link. How this volume bar disappeared to begin with, is still a mystery to me...The volume bar use to be there, but now it's gone & I do not have any idea what needs to be done in order to return this function...??!?!

You're very welcome.
As the description of the file indicated, that is the purpose of the software link I posted.
To display the volume and brightness level on the screen.
In as much as it didn't work, I do not have any other suggestions to offer.
