Pavilion 14-bk063sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had my Pavilion laptop for over a year without any sound difficulties.  A couple of weeks ago, the sound suddenly started becoming very tinny, with a permanent hiss every time any sound is played (even Windows sounds).  Same whether internal or external speakers.  I have tried reinstalling the audio drivers, to no avail.

There is a message under the "Events" tab of the Realtek HD Audio Properties dialogue box as follows: Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0295&SUBSYS_103C8362&REV_1000\4&bae9325&0&0001 requires further installation. - is this likely to be the problem?  If so, how do I fix it please?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@PMo4BW,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Let's try these steps -

Step 1 Run Audio troubleshooter -

1) In Windows, type "Find and fix audio" into Search, or right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
2) Select Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems from the Search results.

Step 2 Re-install the Audio drivers -

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.
3) Right click on the Audio drivers and click on uninstall.
4) Restart the computer.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 3 Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Step 4 Windows Updates -

Step 5 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Hope this helps!
