My Chromebook microphone was working normally last week and out of nowhere the audio icon became blue and it has a message when I put my mouse on top of it that says "Toggle volume. Volume is on, toggling will mute audio". Ever since the icon became blue and this message shows up my microphone either doesn't work or it works very bad and no one can hear me when I'm asking a question during my online classes through zoom, I tried using messenger to see if the microphone works there but it doesn't work either, and I tried connecting my headphones to the Chromebook and the same thing happens. How can I have my microphone working again? Is there a way of turning off toggle sound?
The same blue icon is showing up on the wi-fi icon and it says "toggle network connection."

I reviewed your post and I understand that the microphone is not working correctly on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
- Open Chrome .
- At the top right, click Settings.
- At the bottom, click Advanced.
- Under "Privacy and security," click Content settings.
- Click Microphone.
- Turn Ask before accessing on or off.
If you continue facing the issue, then perform a powerwash following the steps in the below article.

I tried doing both the things you advised me to do last night and they didn't work. It's really unfortunate that this is happening to my laptop now because I need to be able to talk on my live lectures and my professor cannot hear me. I've also tried using headphones but it does the same with the microphone from my headphones.
