I am using software that interfaces with my shortwave radios. They use usb codex sound for input and output. For example WSJT_X software.
Output levels are ok. But input levels are extremely low even with microphone volume turned all the way up.. This is a new laptop Omen 17 I7 12th Gaming laptop.
I've reinstalled drivers and ran troubleshooter . On one occasion it actually started to work. No sense as to why either. Was random. Seems not to switch over properly to USB microphone input. Then when I rebooted it stopped working. All my setups work fine with 3 other computers.
2 are Win7 and one win 10 . Using the same usb cables software and cables. I am afraid it could be a hardware problem. Only had the laptop for 3 days. DRIVING ME CRAZY after spending 1400 for something that is worse than my old computers. It could also be the usb drivers installed are not compatible with win 11. Driver installed from silicon labs works fine on win 10 computer. Ugg $1400 machine isn't cutting it. Not happy

To make more clear
Normal operation on a good computer .
On a good computers - laptops (I have 2)
My radios output sound is adjusted to output of 26%
Goes into the laptop through the usb cable . The sound registers about 60 on the software meter.
This is the correct gain in the sound cards amplifier . Uses the microphone USB codex
On the Hp Omen. With Radio set to 26% output. Signal in my software doesn't even move the meter
In my software. When I increase the signal from my radio to 70% my software meter reads about 15% . Yet in the driver section in the software driver sections shows the microphone signal is being buried beyond max. The sound card is not properly amplifying the signal
So Between the microphone codex input and the sound card amplifier output going to my software the gain is bad.
Could be a bad sound card amplifier – Gain is bad. IC amp not working correctly. Could even be components missing. Or software driver not setting the gain properly.
I may have to return this.
If there is no solution I may have to return it.

I think my problem will not be solved unless some Amatuer Radio operator out there is running an Icom 7300 shortwave transceiver or a Yaesu FDX3000 transceiver using WSJT-X low signal software on a Windows 11 I7 12 gen laptop successfully. And figured out how to do it. Works fine and both my win 7 laptops. I have a I7 old gen Dell desk top but is in another room and much to difficult to tear down to bring it into another room to test.
There may be issues with the Windows Codex Software and Drivers installed
There may be issues with the Silicon labs drivers for the USB Bridge 64 bit
There may be issues with the WSJI-X 64 bit software running on Win 11
Earlier version WXJT almost works but fails to decode
The new Beta version won’t even access the Cat control.
Could even be an Issue with the RealTec sound board driver in the laptop.
All permission were granted WSJT shows up as a device being used .
The USB microphone and USB Speaker all enabled.
System clock is correct.
All other devices not in use shut off
After 3 days of experimenting still solution .
One good thing all of my other radio program software is working after installing some drivers manually. Icom 5100A Dstar radio, Icon 51 plus Dstar hand held radio, CS800 mobile DMR radio. Yeasu 8900 and TYY md380 and other. But they do not use usb codecs or sound card interfacing.
I am a Win 11 guinea pig.
I tested the microphone on the front panel. OK would have liked it to be a little more sensitive
I will test it out on Google meets soon.
Next step is to try if I can get audacity to work
HELP !!!

Hello MrSlaveunit,
well, we have illuminated very many aspects. The wheel cannot and does not have to be reinvented in this case, but it does not run smoothly...
>Next step is to try if I can get audacity to work
Uninstall, reboot and install the latest stable version 3.1.3 of audacity
