Unable to install Conexant HD audio driver due to error could not find the device for this driver. Audio icon shows red X, no driver or audio controller in device manager . Built-in speaker and headphone does not work but Bluetooth speaker works. Performed all steps with Microsoft support but still the same.

Hi @bikash329
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're facing with the Conexant HD audio driver not installing and the audio not working on your built-in speaker and headphone, but working on a Bluetooth speaker, indicates a possible problem with the audio hardware or its integration with the operating system. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Check Device Manager
- Open Device Manager (Press Win + X and select Device Manager).
- Look for any devices under Sound, video and game controllers or Other devices that might indicate missing drivers or errors (like a yellow triangle).
2. Update BIOS
Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve hardware detection issues.
- Go to HP website.Download and install the latest BIOS update for your specific model.
3. Uninstall and Reinstall Audio Drivers
- In Device Manager, right-click on any audio devices under Sound, video and game controllers and select Uninstall device.
- If there's an option to delete the driver software, select it.
- Restart your computer after uninstalling the drivers.
- Go to HP support website.Download and install the latest audio drivers for your laptop model.
4. Use Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter to see if it can identify and fix the problem.
5. Check for Windows Updates
- Make sure your Windows is fully up-to-date.Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
6. Check Audio Services
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
- Ensure both services are running. If they are not, right-click on them and select Start.
7. Try a Different Driver Version
- Sometimes, a different version of the Conexant driver or a generic driver from Microsoft might work better.
- In Device Manager, right-click on the audio device and select Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
- Try installing the High Definition Audio Device from the list.
8. Check the BIOS Settings
- Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, DEL, or ESC during startup).
- Check if the onboard audio is enabled.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
