Just bought the HP Envy x360 15" and uninstalled HP Audio Switch thinking it was just bloatware, but shortly after the speaker on the topside (facing up) of the laptop stopped producing sound. The two speakers on the bottom of the laptop (facing down) still work. I tried the solutions that HP Support recommends, however these require HP Recovery Manager, which I also removed, and can't download from the HP Website. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi @khajihana,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you uninstalled the HP Audio Switch application on your HP Envy x360 15" laptop and your speakers stopped working, it is likely that the audio drivers associated with the application were also removed. The HP Audio Switch is responsible for managing audio settings and routing on your laptop, so removing it can affect the proper functioning of your speakers.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps.

1. Reinstall HP Audio Switch: Visit the official HP support website (https://support.hp.com) and search for the HP Audio Switch application compatible with your specific laptop model. Download and install the application following the provided instructions. Restart your laptop after installation and check if the speakers start working again.

2. Update audio drivers: If reinstalling HP Audio Switch does not solve the problem, you may need to update your audio drivers. Visit the HP support website and search for driver updates for your specific laptop model. Look for the audio drivers and download the latest version available. Install the updated drivers and restart your laptop.

3. Windows Device Manager: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you can try checking the Windows Device Manager to see if there are any issues with your audio drivers. Here's how you can do it.

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
  • Look for any audio devices with a yellow exclamation mark or question mark indicating driver issues.
  • Right-click on the problematic audio device and select "Update driver" or "Uninstall device" (if the driver is already installed).
  • If you choose to uninstall the device, restart your laptop, and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.
  • If you choose to update the driver, follow the on-screen instructions and restart your laptop if prompted.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
