Sorry for solving my own thread right away, but it has been a source of frustration for me that when I played back songs with heavy instrumentation from YouTube or even an MP3 file (basically "noisier" songs that require high bitrate like noise pop, but also e.g., hard rock and metal songs) played back with changing volume levels (song parts were sometimes louder, sometimes quieter) and this drove me crazy. Until I found a solution, which I now want to share with everyone. The first thing I had to figure out what kind of phenomenon this was: audio compression. I though first that this was a hardware issue, but luckily it's not. However, HP released software that sets such sound settings on by default. I can tell that for sure because I've never touched HP's audio programs before.

So, to fix it, open HP Audio Control from the Start Menu, go to Equalizer, turn off Audio Detection and change Audio Preset to Off. Now I'm no longer annoyed by varying loudness levels. Such a relief!

As I said in my thread-opener message, I've already solved this problem, see that one for the details. (Hereby marking it as solved.)
