HP 8440P
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi,

I currently have an HP 8440p laptop which is currently running the OS Windows 8.1 Pro. I am in the process of trying to upgrade to windows 10 but have encountered the error multiple times:

0xC1900101 - 0x20017

Which is quite strange as i was able to upgrade the laptop to windows 10 beforehand.

While investigating the issue i have tried to update the drivers and can see that the audio driver does not get updated.

The Hardware ID is:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2804&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2804&SUBSYS_80860101

I found a similar case created:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Missing-quot-High-Definition-Audio-Device-quot-Win-10-o...

But the URL to the driver file no longer exists.

Could anyone please help.

Thanks,

Shorof

Hi:

That is the Intel HD audio driver that needs to be installed.

You will have to manually install the W7 intel HD audio driver as follows...

1. Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd link at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

2. Download and save, but do not run the W7 Intel graphics driver from your notebook's support page.

This package provides the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver with Turbo Boost Technology for the supported notebook models and operating systems.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64360.exe

After you save the above graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  And let it extract the file into its folder name (sp64360).

Once that is done, go to the device manager.  Click on the HD audio device that needs the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.
