For the various people having this issue, please supply the model number or product number for your computer and I will post some links that you can use to resolve the issue.
Though I am an HP employee, I am not here as a representative for them. I am here of my own accord to help those requesting it.
Please demonstrate any appreciation for help with a kudos!

WTF??
So, I Formatted my notebook ( dv7-1014tx ),
Installed Windows 7,
Downloaded ALL drivers
And updated them ALL!
So, my notebook is like new.
BUT - My sound keeps increasing and decreasing.
Can It be a Driver problem?
If it is, is a problem with the sound driver or the " volume control touch thing "
please, help... Quick...

I think this may be a correct fix. Try pressing near the volume symbol and it makes it the volume bar disappear. Also, when the volume bar is flashing on my screen, i cant use the touch pad as a "clinker" but after pressing near the volume symbol it appears to work again......Strangle as it is, but its the only thing that seems to work.....Good luck.
In addition, i had problems with my wireless not being able to be "enabled". Updated drivers, etc but nothing worked. Again, it started working after pressing near the volume button.....maybe its a special spot to fix all problems ha ha...
BTW, i have a DV-7 1213tx

My Pavilion dv 8 has had this problem for 6 months - each time I called tech support they did updates, etc... even to the point of re-installing the factory operating system. Each time the problem would stop for a week or 2 and happen again but by the time I was able to call tech support it would be 3 to 4 weeks later. Each time I got the same run around - run updates and wait. Finally the hard drive failed so HP had no choice but to take the laptop back for repairs. I had the laptop for 11 months at the time that I sent it in. I did not get it back until 5 days before the 1 year warranty expired. Now, 3 weeks later, once again, the volume is increasing by itself and taking contorl of the pc and the wireless connection is turning off all by itself. So I call HP AGAIN and guess what, it's now out of warranty. The tech says they will only warranty the replaced hard drive but I can spend $99 to get another year of phone support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So HP just kept putting me off, never fixing the problem until the warranty expired and then told me tough luck!!!!!! I will never own another HP product, EVER!

Has anyone managed to solve this issue. It is a real pain. When it is going on I can't type or do anything. The volume turns is self up and down, the bluetooth turns itself on and off as does the wifi and the mouse likes to move itself all over the screen, managing to shrink pages, close them, open programs etc. I have connected another mouse which has helped with the mouse issue, but other than that I am still having massive issues 😞
Thanks
