Hey community,

Glad to be a part of here, but sad, as I need to report issues, instead of having fun...

The issue is that the audio drivers are getting me extreme high CPU usage - 25%+ (record so far is 60%). Tried reinstalling, disabling, uninstalling Realtek drivers. Deleted various HP software in hopes of reducing that.

Currently, the only thing I can do is to stop the process - Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation . But without it either I don't have any sound, or it starts a good 10-30 seconds after the song/video starts.

Please help, I don't have anything more I can do, but prat for peers to help me. Thought I could handle it myself, but it is now outside of my ability scope.

@Hosemarino,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I believe respond to "Hey Cortana" may be enabled on your PC. If so, tap search bar on the taskbar and then tap settings at bottom left corner and disable hey Cortana and your problem will be gone.

If you continue facing the issue, then run the audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

Select the Start button, type audio troubleshooter in the search box, select Find and fix audio playback problems from the list of results, and then select Next. You'll be prompted to choose the device to troubleshoot.

If running the troubleshooter doesn't help, follow the below steps.

    1. Select the Start button and type device manager in the search box, then select it from the list of results.
    2. Select the arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers to expand it.
    3. Right-click (or press and hold) your sound card, then select Properties.
    4. Select the Driver tab, and then select Update Driver.
    5. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hey @The_Fossette,

Thanks for the info. I disabled Cortana via registry entry and attempted to update my drivers in the Device manager (again i guess).

The troubleshooter that I ran told me to disable audio enhancments, but having Realtek drivers installed on top of the generic MIcrosof Driver resulted in the non-existence of Enhancements tab where it is supposed to be, thus I can't disable them.

Upon deleting/disabling realtek drivers, I can access the Enhancements and I disable them, but either i do not have audio at all or it is fixed until next reboot (when Realtek re-installs by itself)

Besides, I have three different drivers beneath Audio:

• Intel(R) Display Audio

• NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (wave extensible) (WDM)

• Realtek High definition audio(SST)

To confirm, I uninstalled Realtek HDA (without deleting the files) that fixed the issue for a short time (next reboot reinstalled it). Unistallation and deletion of the driver resulted in no audio output at all (even after reboot, so i needed to reinstall manually, which reintroduced the issue).

All evidences i researched point that the Enhancements are the perpetrator, but Realtek Driver prevents me from editing them.

So, the issue persists.
