Envy x360 Convertible 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When first purchased 5 months ago, sound was brilliant, clear and loud.  Now it sounds like muffled AM radio.  At a loss to explain.  Only installed updates from HP utility.  Audio troubleshooter does not help.  Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.  When my wireless headphones are attached, the volume issue seems to carry over as well, but not to external bluetooth speaker?  I'm stumped..

Very interesting, 12C31UA gives me few different results on the HP Envy 15-ed1000 series. Please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

    (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
                   https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp113001-113500/sp113153.exe

    (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
    (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
    (d) Reboot again.

The clean driver install cleaned up the use of my bluetooth devices, but the internal speaker remains unchanged.  Is it possible this is simply a failure of the physical speaker now, and not a driver issue.

I appreciate your feedback.
