Hi, I recently updated my drivers for my HP ProBook using a driver updater app, however after I finished updating the drivers, after rebooting many times, there is an red cross next to the volume icon and if I click on it it will start the audio troubleshooter. The troubleshooter does not work and it says it cannot detect the issue. I have installed the Realtek audio driver from the HP website however it does nothing, and if I try to add legacy device through Device Manager, it bluescreens me. I really need this fixed so please reply if possible. It also says if I hover over the volume icon, "No audio output device is installed"

Hi, thanks for replying. In my device manager, there is usually a section for Sound, video and Game Controllers, however it used to be there but now if I open it, the whole section is gone. But if I click on "show hidden devices" it comes back but there is only 1 device under it called "Microsoft Streaming Service Proxy" It is updated and I don't think it has anything to do with sound. Before I updated my drivers and when everything was normal, there was something there that was called "Realtek" something. I have tried downloading the Realtek and HP audio driver but after I install it, there is still nothing in Device Manager.

I downloaded HP Image Assistant and found out my system default settings are not normal so I updated it, alongside some other drivers. However, my other drivers installed normally but my system default settings failed to install. I have also run the audio check and it just says "No audio device found"

The driver updater app seems to have messed something up. Download a driver from here. In contrast to the HP packages, a real installer works here, which cleans up the audio driver area at the latest when uninstalling (via Apps). Then it is best to reinstall with the HP Image Assistant.
