Volume control through the laptop keys f6 f7 and f8 not working -  All other keys working fine - Same controls work when connected with an external keyboard.

 

Solutions given on the sie ast being 2018 have been checked but to no avail

Since the issue is only on volume function keys, I suggest you follow the below steps:

  1. Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, identify your computer, and then look for sound driver, update them and then look for keyboard drivers.

  2. Click Driver-Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices, and then select the HP Wireless Button Driver or HP Hotkey Support driver, depending on your operating system and notebook model.

    Locate the HP Wireless Driver Button Driver

  3. Download and install the driver.

    The function keys should now work.

If they don't, please create a new user account and check if that helps.

What is the product number for your computer?

 

Meanwhile, I recommend you perform a system restore back to the date when everything was working fine following the steps in the below article and check.
