Hello,

I have a problem with a volume slider when I connect bluetooth speaker. It doesn't react to sound volume, no matter is it 10% or 100%, volume is same. However, it react to 0% (mute) . That started to happen after some of the updates maybe one, two months ago. However, when I don't use Bluetooth speaker and choose laptop speakers, volume slider work normally. I tried to reinstall sound driver , bluetooth driver but nothing. Would someone know how to solve this issue.

@Ivanptt,

I read your super quick response. Thanks for the update and it is wonderful to hear from you again. You've displayed great temperament, clinical efficiency and strong technical expertise to figure things out. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 As @MKazi is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf.

If this happened before the updates, then try performing a system restore to an earlier time before this happened from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03327545 and follow the steps from the section "Restore your computer when Windows starts normally"

This should fix the issue if system restore completes and the issue is not hardware related.

If the issue persists, then backup your important data and perform a Microsoft Push-Button Reset of Windows 10 by following instructions from this link: http://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c04742289

There is an associated YouTube video on how to do it. If the correct on-screen instructions are followed, then there should be no data loss. However, All apps and programs that were installed will need to be reinstalled again.

This should resolve the issue as long as the issue is not hardware related.  I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind here.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

MKazi is at your service.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY x360 - 15-w101no laptop and post a Windows update, the Bluetooth speaker does not react to the sound volume from the laptop. Otherwise the volume on the laptop speakers and headphones is fine.

I'll be glad to assist you with this case.

Do you recall what update it was?

Meanwhile, during my research, I came across the following steps that should help is to fix this issue:

  • In Search type troubleshoot and hit the enter key.
  • Select Playing Audio
  • Click Run the troubleshooter
  • Select Bluetooth
  • Click Run the troubleshooter

Alternately you may try Ear Trumpet, that offers you a smarter way to control the volume for each individual program.

You can download it from Store
NOTE: The EarTrumpet is a third party app available at the Windows store. HP does not guarantee or control the functionality of this app.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted for further assistance.

Cheers! 🙂

Hello Mkazi, and thanks for your support.

I tried your proposal with troubleshooter. However, there was no solution. It was the same. I cannot recall what was the update, but it was probably update 2,3 months ago, just I haven't been in a  mood to explore some solution for that so I let it go like that. Now, when I joined to this forum I wanted finally to find some solution if possible. As for the application Ear trumpet, I tried it also and find is usable, however, it didn't provide me solution since the main volume slider is still not working (I need main slider to work since I can manage it from keyboard shortcuts).  If you find some other solution , please let me know :)))

You're most welcome. You have been fabulous to work with considering your superb technical skills and valuable patience. Kudos to you for that.

Let us uninstall the audio drivers and then reinstall them. The following steps will hel:

  • Open the device manager.
  • Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
  • Right click on the audio drivers in there and select uninstall.
  • Close the device manager after the audio drivers are uninstalled.
  • You may download and install the audio drivers from this HP link.
  • The laptop needs to be restarted once after the drivers are installed successfully.

In case the issue still persists then you may update the Windows operating system and then check.

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know.

Good luck!

Hello again and thanks again for advice. I tried everything you advised me, uninstalled old driver , installed new one, restarted laptop,  updated windows and still same problem. I assume it is problem with a bluetooth speaker driver  (even bluetooth speaker doesn't need a driver  to work ) since when I uninstalled realtek sound driver, bluetooth speakers continued to work. In the link below please find youtube video link that I have uploaded with a sound problem.

Hello David,

Thanks for your message. Since I don't know which update was the reason why my sound slider is not working, I will do the Windows restart and I hope it will solve the situation. However, due to my working duties I don't have time to do it right now so I will do it in next few days. Anyways, thanks for your super quick response.
