I recently found myself needing a replacement laptop. In the interim, I bought a cheap used DV7-3067. It is natively a Windows 7 notebook. When I received it, I installed an additional ram module, a ssd and did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. HP has apparently "retired" this model and offers zero support or downloads for it. Not even a bios update or HP software that wouldve came on it when new.
Anyway, when I type, and I do A LOT, every time I press "i", my volume mutes and I get a volume meter on my screen. This is distracting and can obstruct screen view. My touchpad also disables every time I press the "k" key. I use a wireless mouse, but it is still an annoyance. More of an annoyance is the absolute lack of information or help in trying to disable these hotkeys.
I assumed it was due to a Fn lock or something, however, that is usually changed in the bios. This option is not present in the current bios for this model, and there are no downloads for possible upgrades for it.
Does anyone know how I can disable these hotkeys? I use this laptop for school and constantly having to unmute the lecture I have playing in the background while I type my papers is very much a hassle. I have Googled and Googled and Googled...I have tried the supposed Virtual Assistant. I have checked Help menus on the laptop. I have checked Volume settings, mouse settings, etc...I am at a lose.
