Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was dealing with the LOW VOLUME ISSUE after upgrading to Windows 10. But I have now fixed my sound and everything is fine now.

I will be posting the steps for Windows 10 64bit:

1. Download http://goo.gl/6Rqf7p (Should Automatically Download)

2. After Download has completed, go ahead a create a folder called "Driver" and move the downloaded file into that folder.

3. Extract the file into the folder.

4. Open "Device Manager". Select "Sound, video and game controllers", and double-click "High Definition Audio".

5. Hit the "Driver" tab up top, and click "Update Driver".

6. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"

7. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

8. Select "Have disk"

9. Select "Browse" and locate the "Driver" folder you created with the extracted file inside.

10. You should see a file called "STWRT64.INF" inside. After clicking on it. Under "Model", you should see "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC". Go ahead and click next. A "WARNING" window will pop-up. (The choice is totally up to you. I am in no way responsible for any harm done to your computer.) Click "YES".

11. Windows will begin to install the driver. After completion, you will be notified after driver has been completely installed.

12. Go ahead and now play a sound to test and your VOLUME should be back to normal.

13. Time to enjoy WINDOWS 10.

Downloaded extracted into a directory "driver" (not Driver.. feel it should not matter) but get following error while installing:

If you are not comfortable downloading the driver from Softpedia (as I was) you can get the latest driver directly from the manufacturer support site and Microsoft.  Note that IDT was bought by Tempo Semi and links can be found on this page https://temposemi.com/applications/windows-10-driver-support-2/

You can take either of the first two links on that page to the Microsoft Update Catalog but the second is more direct, use this one: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=%22Tempo%22%20%2B%20%22Audio%22

On that page download the latest Win 10 driver dated 7/2/2015 version 6.10.6504.0 and then follow the same directions by the originator of this thread.  Note: you will need to unzip the .CAB file into a new folder in order to use the files.

@maratha

Try the link to the Microsoft Update Catalog which I just posted
