New HP Envy Laptop (17-bw0)- Windows chimes/ jingles that are activated by events in windows are very tinny with no bass. Music CDs and YouTube video audio sound is OK. Tried updating and rolling back Realtek Audio driver under Sound, Video, and game controllers. Tried changing all settings that I could find. Nothing made a difference. Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance.
Wanted to provide additional information:
My local electronics store has the same computer on display that I have. It system sounds sound OK. Being the store display unit, it probably has not had any software updates in the last year or so. The Realtek driver on that computer is dated 2/26/18, ver 6.0.1.8382. I did not have that driver to roll back to.

Using SFC /scannow, the following files were found to be CORRUPT:
C:\windows\Media\\Windows Notify System Generic.wav
C:\windows\Media\\Windows Notify Messaging.wav
C:\windows\Media\\Windows Notify Email.wav
C:\windows\Media\\Windows Notify Calendar.wav
C:\windows\Media\\Windows Background.wav
C:\windows\Media\\Windows Foreground.wav
Unfortunately, SFC in conjunction with DISM, were unable to repair the files. I suspect that the files in the RECOVERY partition from HP are also corrupt. I copied replacement files from another win 10 computer.
Good article explaining how to use SFC:

Another alternative that sounds promising, but I did not use, is to do a repair install of win 10 without loosing apps and programs. Here is an article explaining the process:

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
- (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
- Could you please share the screenshot of the application?
- Are you referring to the notification sound on your notebook?
- Did you update to the latest audio driver from HP Website?
- Is it the first time that you're experiencing this sound?
- Did you get an error code while performing driver Rollback?
Keep me posted for further assistance.

1. Product Number: 2YY28AV
2. OK, won't share personal info.
3. N/A
4. Window's System sounds made due to Program events, such as Calendar Reminder, Notification, New Mail Notification, etc.
5. Yes... Sound may be a little better versus older drivers, but still lack fullness, depth, sound tinny compared to my old HP Laptop.
6. Received laptop new with this condition.
7. No error codes.
For what it is worth, my old laptop used IDT driver for sounds (dated 08/16/2013, version 6.10.641.0). I would hope that this is some sort of bug, not that Realtek just puts out lousy sound drivers!
Thanks for your help.
