Microsoft Windows 11

About two weeks ago, my PC did an auto Windows update and the audio stopped working.  The problem is on all audio devices...speaker, wired and Bluetooth headphones, HDMI, etc.  Audio services are running and tried updating, rolling back or reinstalling driver from HP, Intel and Realtek .  Audio test on all devices says, "Failed to Play Test Tone!".

Was on the phone with MS support for two hours and after having tried all of their suggestions, was left with "try a clean windows install" (I have yet to do that).  Tried all of the suggestions provided by HP's virtual assistant (I'm a few months out of warranty--so no live support).  Searched the internet and tried a bunch of suggestion I hadn't previously attempted with no resolution.  I  believe I've literally tried every recommended solution out there.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem after a recent Windows 11 update?  Thanks.

I did a Windows 11 fresh install and the problem persisted.  Restored to a system image from a year ago and problem went away.  Seems to confirm that the latest version of Windows 11 is the culprit.  Worry the problem will return when Windows updates again.

We have the same issue here in our company with atleast 2 different HP models.

Same problem. Multiple HP laptops, Elitebooks, x360 across corporation.

Removing the Realtek drivers from device manager and rebooting seems to do the trick. In some cases reinstalling latest HP audio Realtek drivers + restart helped as well.
