External speaker no longer emitting sound. Checked device manager and sound source no longer exists to install driver updates. Not sure what to do. HP Support does not offer support for version 23HR

Audio diagnose in HP Support Assistant says no speakers and no microphone exist but the UEFI Diagnostics say they are available and a sound is heard.
cross checked with Linux on usb-stick its definitively not a hardware problem - as with linux everything workded perfectly.

after 22H2 I noticed that my AMD drivers werent' working right, and I had to install the driver from AMD itself, and run the "version picker" from AMD. I have been using HP assistant for drivers for years on this PC -- Elitebook 835 G8, but 22H2 broke video and audio. My video is stable, but I feel I've left HP service packs, for using AMD and I'm not sure what's going on with the chipset.
I had no new software except some smaller games that made no config changes, but audio was working until I would login, (VGA mode, I assume before the AMD drivers kicked in), there are no disabled or non-working drivers in device manager, and I had some success uninstalling realtek APO, and the "sound research audio effects component," but that has no longer been an option to fix this, ie the workaround stopped working, I'm stuck and I'm afraid if I wipe the PC and start fresh, it will be a problem. I can use my BT headset to listen to the PC, so I mean the hardware is working,
