When the headphones are on, the sound comes through the computer speakers. After reinstalling the device and driver, it initially works as it should, but if you turn off and reconnect the headphones, it doesn't see the headphones again.

I checked with the Assistant and PC Diagnostics Windows programs. I removed the device and driver. When installing the recommended HP driver (sp113704) , I noticed a loop during the installation - a command line window appeared with a message that required me to press the button to continue, but which was repeated again and again.

Uninstall sp113704, use HP Support Assistant to install the correct audio driver, disable/enable the audio device, and set headphones as default output.

Thanks for the reply, but HP Support Assistant doesn't find any audio issues and considers the headphones disconnected (they're connected to the 3.5mm jack). I can't even say for sure whether the sp113704 driver installed correctly because it keeps getting stuck in a loop. In Device Manager, under "Audio, video, gaming devices," only Realtek(R) Audio is listed. I uninstalled it, but Windows reinstall it (recommends it). I also installed the driver through HP programs. I marked it as "Headphones" as the default output. This only works after installation. If I unplug the headphones from the port and plug them back in, the system doesn't recognize the headphones as connected.
