This HP laptop has an audio jack that is supposed be for both input and output. I have a wireless microphone that I have used for Zoom meetings, which worked fine on my previous laptop (now dead). On this HP laptop (brand new), when I plugged in the receiver into the audio jack, the laptop did not find the device. When I checked Bang & Olufsen Audio Control when plugging in the receiver of the mic, it thought it was an output device, not an input device. So, I'm wondering if there is a way to tell the Settings of the laptop that it is an input device. Can anyone help here?
thank you.

From its manual https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_5826253_en-US-1.pdf it has Audio-out (headphone)/Audio-in (microphone) combo jack.
That means it accepts normal headsets. Probably you need an Y splitter such as

Regards.
