Is the ZBook X2 G4 capable of accepting just a Microphone in the Mic/Headphones port without it being a mic/headphone combo set? *I hope that made sense*
I currently have an AT2020USB+ microphone that connects via USB. Works great. But I need to be able to walk around a bit, so I ordered the Bietrun WXM07 UHF Wireless headset. The receiver unit comes with a 3.5mm jack adapter. But when I plug it in, it's not registering. Unfortunate I don't have another mic anywhere in the house to test it out, at least I couldn't find one when I searched, and no one I directly know has one either.

Hi,
You can get a splitter for the combo port.

Just got the adapter and it did the trick! Thank you!
Not necessarily asking for tech support or anything, but do you happen to know if the ZBook handles mics well? The mic sound comes in either below a whisper, or red-line loud and very muffled. Trying to figure out if its a quality limit of the ZBook hardware, or an issue with the device.

You're welcome.
The audio should be good with a good mike (and maybe cables). I wonder if you have some kind of "beam" setting which cancels noise outside of a certain beam in front of the PC. You could check the Bang & Olufsen settings.
Probably the best idea for you would be to get a USB mike which being digital usually have higher quality for lower prize.
