Hi @Lavamster307 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're encountering is due to the missing Conexant audio driver. Here's how to resolve it:
Steps to Fix the Issue:
Download the Correct Conexant Audio Driver:
- Visit the HP Support page for your device model.
- Search for your laptop model (HP ENVY - 17-u177cl) and navigate to the "Drivers and Downloads" section.
- Select your operating system (Windows 10, 64-bit).
- Look for the Conexant Audio Driver under the audio category and download it.
Install the Driver:
- Run the downloaded driver file and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
- Restart your PC after installation.
Enable the Device in Device Manager:
- Open the Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- If the Conexant device is listed but disabled (with a down arrow), right-click it and choose Enable device.
- If it's not listed, proceed to the next step.
Manually Add the Device:
- In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
- If Windows detects the device, it should reinstall the driver automatically.
Run HP Support Assistant:
- If the manual driver installation doesn't work, download and install the HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
- Use it to automatically detect and install the correct drivers for your system.
Install the Latest Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates.
- Restart your PC.
Test Audio and Microphone:
- Open Sound Settings:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
- Under the Recording and Playback tabs, check if your microphone and speakers are listed and set as default.
If Issues Persist:
- Perform a System Restore:
- Type "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and select Create a restore point.
- Click System Restore and choose a restore point from before the issue occurred.
- If you can't resolve the issue, contact HP Support for further assistance.
Preventing Future Issues:
- Avoid uninstalling drivers unless absolutely necessary.
- Use HP Support Assistant or Windows Update to update drivers instead of manual uninstallation.
Let me know if you need further assistance!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
