After updating to the latest version of Windows 11, the built-in microphone does not display. After reinstalling Windows, the microphone appeared before the first use and disappeared again.

Hi @Elnair_Maf,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with the built-in microphone on your Victus by HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop PC after updating to the latest version of Windows 11, and the problem persists even after reinstalling Windows, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Here are some suggestions.
Check Microphone Privacy Settings:
- Open the Settings app (Windows key + I).
- Go to "Privacy" and then select "Microphone" from the left sidebar.
- Make sure that the "Microphone access for this device" is turned on.
- Also, ensure that individual apps are allowed to access the microphone.
Update Audio Drivers:
- Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
- Expand the "Audio inputs and outputs" and "Sound, video and game controllers" sections.
- Right-click on your microphone and audio devices, and select "Update driver."
- Choose the option to search for updated driver software automatically.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Make sure your system is up-to-date by checking for Windows updates. Sometimes, Microsoft releases patches that address hardware compatibility issues.
- Open the Settings app, go to "Windows Update," and click on "Check for updates."
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to "System" and then "Troubleshoot."
- Select "Additional troubleshooters."
- Run the "Recording Audio" troubleshooter.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Ensure that the microphone is not disabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings. You can access these settings by restarting your computer and pressing the necessary key (usually Del, F2, or F10) during the boot process.
Rollback or Reinstall Audio Drivers:
- If updating the drivers didn't help, you might want to try rolling back to the previous version or reinstalling the audio drivers.
- In the Device Manager, right-click on the audio device and select "Properties." Under the "Driver" tab, you should find options to rollback or uninstall the driver.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If none of the software solutions work, it's possible there could be a hardware issue with the microphone.
Restore to a Previous System Restore Point:
- If the issue started after a Windows update, you can try restoring your system to a previous state using System Restore. Search for "Create a restore point" in the Start menu, go to the "System Protection" tab, and click on "System Restore."
Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
