Hi @Sudhanshu18,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your Victus by HP gaming laptop is experiencing an issue with the audio volume being stuck at maximum regardless of the settings you choose. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check Volume Mixer Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar (bottom-right corner of your screen) and select "Open Volume Mixer."
  • Ensure that the volume sliders for all applications are set to an appropriate level. Sometimes, individual application volumes can override system settings.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted audio drivers can cause various audio issues. Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section, right-click on your audio device, and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the on-screen instructions. Restart your laptop after updating.

Check Audio Settings in Control Panel:

  • Type "Control Panel" in the Start menu search and open it.
  • Go to "Hardware and Sound" > "Sound."
  • Select the Playback tab and double-click on your audio device.
  • Go to the "Levels" tab and ensure that the volume is set to an appropriate level. Also, check the "Enhancements" tab to ensure no enhancements are causing the issue.

Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • Sometimes, audio enhancements can interfere with volume controls. Go to "Sound" in the Control Panel as mentioned above, select your audio device, and go to the "Enhancements" tab.
  • Check the box that says "Disable all enhancements" and click Apply.

Check for Third-Party Audio Software:

  • If you have any third-party audio software installed (e.g., Realtek HD Audio Manager), check its settings to ensure that they are not overriding the system audio settings.

Restart Windows Audio Service:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box, type "services.msc," and press Enter.
  • In the Services window, scroll down to find "Windows Audio."
  • Right-click on it and select "Restart." This action can sometimes resolve audio-related issues.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Type "Troubleshoot" in the Start menu search and open "Troubleshoot settings."
  • Select "Playing Audio" under "Find and fix other problems" and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.

System Restore (if applicable):

  • If the issue started recently and you suspect it might be due to a recent change, performing a system restore to a point before the issue began can be a potential solution.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
