When I go to play videos on my laptop I am experiencing the audio or speakers to stutter. The audio begins to shake or skip that is the best way I can explain it. I don't know how to go about this issue or if i should take in my laptop, it is only a year old and so far this is now the only issue I've had. I thought it was due to an app o installed so i un installed it and it is still stuttering, just a week ago my audio was fine.

Hi @D-12,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I Understand you are facing issues with the audio stuttering on your HP Laptop. I'll be glad to help you.
That said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
- Is the audio stuttering happening with all types of media (e.g., videos, music, system sounds), or is it specific to certain apps or websites?
- Have you noticed any performance issues alongside the audio problem, such as your laptop slowing down, freezing, or showing high CPU usage?
- Is the stuttering happening when using both the internal speakers and external audio devices (e.g., headphones, Bluetooth speakers)?
- Have you recently updated your laptop's operating system, audio drivers, or any other software before the issue started?
Experiencing audio stuttering can be frustrating, but let’s get it fixed with these steps. Imagine you’re tuning your speakers to sound clear and smooth:
1. Update Audio Drivers (Polishing the Sound)
Just like dusting off an old record, updating your audio drivers can help clear up the static. Head to Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Find Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek), and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
2. Adjust Audio Enhancements (Tuning the Frequency)
Picture adjusting the bass and treble on your speakers to smooth out rough spots.
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and choose Sounds.
- Go to the Playback tab, right-click your speakers and choose Properties.
- Under the Enhancements tab, tick Disable all enhancements.
- Apply and check the sound again.
3. Change Power Settings (Unclogging the Flow)
It’s like ensuring there’s enough electricity flowing to power your speakers properly.
- Press Windows + X, select Power Options.
- Under Related settings, click Additional power settings.
- Select High performance or Balanced, and ensure your laptop is not in any power-saving mode.
4. Check Background Apps (Clearing the Noise)
Imagine too many voices talking at once. Sometimes, other apps running in the background can interrupt smooth playback.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Go to the Processes tab and check for apps using a lot of CPU or Memory.
- Right-click and End task on apps you don’t need, especially heavy apps like games or editing software.
5. Run Audio Troubleshooter (Auto-Fixing the Static)
Think of it as calling in a technician to check for hidden issues.
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Under Playing Audio, click Run.
After each step, test your speakers to see if the stuttering sound is gone, and enjoy the smooth tunes!
