The HP audio switch dropped certain connections.  It used to show output connections to the TV and one to a Bluetooth device. Those disappeared one day, and all that shows now are internal speakers and headphones.

What can I do to get those connections back? I've already checked W11 settings for audio, etc., but no help there.

Hi @batrot,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. When the connections disappeared, did you make any system updates, driver updates, or changes to your audio setup?
  2. Does your TV or Bluetooth device show up correctly and connect to other devices normally?
  3. Are you using HP Audio Switch software, the built-in Windows sound settings, or both to manage audio outputs?
  4. Do the missing outputs appear at all in Device Manager under “Sound, video and game controllers” or “Audio inputs and outputs”?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

 Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Restart HP Audio Switch and Windows Audio Services
    • Close and reopen HP Audio Switch.
    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and ensure that Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder are running. Restart them if needed.
  2. Update or reinstall audio drivers
    • Go to Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers.
    • Right-click your audio device → Update driver → Search automatically.
    • If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling the driver and restarting the PC so Windows reinstalls it automatically.
  3. Check for hidden or disabled devices
    • Right-click the speaker icon → Sounds → Playback tab.
    • Right-click in the blank area and enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices.
    • See if your TV or Bluetooth outputs appear and re-enable them.
  4. Bluetooth troubleshooting (if Bluetooth device missing)
    • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on (Win + A → Bluetooth) and the device is paired.
    • Remove the device and re-pair it if necessary.
  5. Check cables and connections for the TV
    • Ensure the HDMI cable or other connection to the TV is secure.
    • Some TVs require input selection to show as an audio device on Windows.

I hope this helps.
